This is the style I love, but I have no idea how it will suit me, as I am a large woman. I do love the tulle, the fairytale princess look with the big skirt though so think I will definitely have this style on the day.
I hate my upper arms too and so will definitely be wearing a bolero on the day or some sort of shrug jacket, I am unsure what colour the dress will be, I like ivory and white equally and also like a few I've seen with some pink in them!
OK tomz I am phoning a lovely bridal store I've seen in Castleford as they cater for the size 18+ bride!! woowoo I won't feel as bad there I don't think, bad as in I don't want them to say, 'Oh we don't have that n your size', here I know they'll have them all in my size and will have a better understanding of a larger figure and what suits the shape better than say slim women catering for an average size12 for example. I'm excited anyway!!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! How AMAZING is trying on wedding dresses!?!? OMG OMG OMG
ReplyDeleteI am sooooooooooooooooooooo not a girly girl, I love trainers and trackies and do not do dresses at all but my word I could try on wedding dresses everyday all day, it was amazing!!!
I went with my best friend and I (we) picked out about 10 dresses to try, 2 of which definitely weren't for me, the rest all suited me well but there were two that I relly loved. The first was one by Justin Alexander (can't say exactly which one as C pops into the blog and he doesn't want to see/know which dress it is so you'll all have to wait until THE DAY to get pics lol) and the second one by Ronald Joyce (Lily) Anyway, after re-trying them both on it was clear the JA dress was the one, I did feel like a princess and I wanted to go skipping around and swaying down aisles in it it was marvellous and THE DRESS!!!
The price? £1,400 :-o
Well, we don't have that for our dress budget, I had said a couple of hundred pounds maximum, the dress trying was to see what STYLE I liked, and suited me. Anyway, we get back to my friend's home and she says to check ebay, which I would have but you know, she was as excited as me to see, well...
THE DRESS IN MY SIZE WAS ON EBAY!!! It was up for £480 BIN plus £35 P&P, I bargained and got it for £400 LOL I sold some belongings I had (wraps I used to wear my children in when they were younger) and I just paid for it friday gone, and the lady is posting it to me this coming tues/weds!!! It also comes with a hoop and bolero which is great as I do not like my arm tops and want them covered, though in the dress shop the bolero didn't work so well and it was a shawl that did, but like a shawl that stays on, you don't have to hold it, so will be sourcing that if what arrives isn't right.
I am so so so pleased, it was like it was meant to be finding it on ebay, I'm far from an average size, what are the chances!!!??? Plus I will be selling it on after the wedding and so we will re-coop some money x
OK so THE DRESS arrived !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSKIP AROUND LIKE A MAD THING AND LGIGGLE MUCHLY!!!
I haven't taken it all out of it's zip bag as yet as I know I will want to put it on and haven't had the time but also I cannot do the back up myself. Anyway, another freaky coincidence, the bag it is in, is from the SAME store I went to to try on wedding dresses!!
It's all a bit coincidental and has a weird meant-to-be feel about it, let's hope so when I try it on, I do have a fear it'll be too short, as long as the length is right it will be OK!!
My dress is way too BIG!!! Boohoo!!! It needs a good 5-6inch taking off the corset top I would think and so now I have to wait a while to have it adjusted to try it on again arrrrr!!!
ReplyDeleteI am going to wait until about 6weeks before the wedding date, then go for a fitting and have it adjusted, it's just if I put on weight or lose any, no point having it adjusted now as that could be fatal! I doubt I'll lose or gain any weight but best to be cautious, although I'm terribly impatient to get it on fitting wonderfully as I know how amazing it looks and it was somewhat disapointing when MY dress didn't fit me grrrr!!
On the plus side, my friends SIL has given me her wedding shoes which fit PERFECTLY, although they are very pointy with a tiny heel, and I don't wear heels, or pointy, so need to get them on a week before for practise otherwise I could break a leg on the day LOL
The dree length seems perfect, although not being able to wear it fitting correctly I cannot know that for certain but I do believe it fits fine, my hoop seems a bit too long, again, will wait until nearer the time to confirm all that.
I know one thing, it's bloody BEAUTIFUL and I am so so so lucky and happy to have THE dress I fell in love with :)
IT FITS!!! IT'S CLEAN!!! I THINK I LOOK GOOD IN IT LOL
ReplyDeleteIt also takes FOREVER to get into! The corset back is just a nightmare, and I have my one friend doing her best to pull me in and tighten it, I had it on this week and it fitted fine and looked fine but it does need to go toghter and I just hope my friend has the strength lol
I have to have a bolero with it though as I am just hating my arms at the top. I do have a tulle wrap but it doesn't cover how I'd like and so I cannot use that unfortunately, and so it's off to ebay I go to sourse a bolero, but not sure what look to go with, satin, silk, lace...
The length of the dress is perfect!!!
I ADORE this dress, but don't know if it adores me, I am so unsure if it's right for me, and I just hope on the day I feel it is! Eeeeek!
